It was 1999 and a large storm hit the Eastern Seaboard. Tropical Storm Floyd dumped nearly 7" of rain over NJ, with Bound Brook taking the brunt of the flooding from the Raritan River. Floyd shut down most of Central NJ.
New Brunswick was no exception. The Raritan swelled past it's limit and the banks overflowed with muddy-brackish water. Major roads like Rt. 27 and Rt. 18 were flooded for days. The police station, based adjacent to the river, was flooded and had to be relocated.
The Rutgers boathouse became an island in the middle of the swollen river. Shells that were stored outside at the rear of the boathouse bobbed up and down. Branches and other debris stuck to the chainlink fence like lint to a dryer vent.
Jordan katz was there to witness it and took these shots.
