ROAR held it's first BBQ on the banks of the Raritan River on May 16th, 2004.

The BBQ was hosted by ROAR's executive board, Jordan Katz, Bruce Close, Jim Kramer, Paul Perry, Rob Friedrich and Steve Perry. The BBQ kicked off the 2004-05 fundraising drive and introduced ROAR's members to the current lightweight team.

Over 60 people attended including the current varsity lightweight team, varsity coach Paul Hammond, Rutgers Alum and Navy head coach Rob Friedrich, Rutgers alum and Navy Frosh coach Steve Perry as well as a number of Rutgers crew alumni from 1996 to present.

The weather was beautiful and the food served up by Jim Kramer was outstanding. A horseshoe pit saw a lot of action as well as the softball field.

Members had a chance to vote on the domain name for ROAR's website...and www.roar1766.com was chosen.

Lastly, the BBQ was especially nice because young Shane Kohn and Jake Perry (photo#10) had a chance to meet and play in the dirt.
